I know the vietnamese music industry or whatever you wanna call it, is not as developed as KPOP. But I would like VPOP to take matters more in their own than too much korean influence.
There is a collaberation between Vietnam and Korea of a music stage called V Heartbeat through the VLIVE app, which is a social media that KPOP groups use to interact with their fans. Vietnamese artist also has access to this app. It’s started in late 2017 with 2 events in a month. V Heartbeat is about vietnamese and korean artists sharing the stage together to perform for vietnamese audience. I think it’s also meant to develope the music industry.
I have to question what purpose does it serve vietnamese music and artist. Because 98% of the audience are just there to see their favourite KPOP acts. I thought the whole reason with V Heartbeat was to have a crossover-collaberation between vietnamese and korean artist? I’ve been watching the V Heartbeat a lot, and it’s obvious the majority is just there to see their favourite korean groups.
If it’s about promoting VPOP, then I agree, but it should have just be for vietnamese musician to perform, not adding huge KPOP names on the list. It defeates the whole purpose because most of the people will just focus on the KPOP groups.
Why can’t Vietnam have their own KCON or Music Bank? I know Hanoi used to have Music Bank back in 2014-15, but not anymore. It would been a better solution for KPOP to perform soley for their fans, while vietnamese acts can either have V Heartbeat for themselves
Another better alternative is Yeah1, Zing and POPS making their own music stages for VPOP. They clearly have resources to do it, so why not?
V Heartbeat is just one example of KPOP having influence. There are many other projects that are happening, but most of them kind of don’t benefit vietnamese music at all. It seems to more of korean promoting their KPOP than developing VPOP.
